First Day Of School Traditions!

You want to make the first day back to school a fun experience for your kids, something they look forward to. One way to do that is with some special traditions. Here are a few to try…

First Day Of School Traditions

1.Yearly School Photo

Have your child hold up a sign with his or her grade and some of their favorite interests. These are fun to look back on as your child grows.

2.Interview Your Child

Similar to the yearly photo, you could also print off a short interview for your child to fill out. For younger children, you can ask the questions and fill it out for them, but it is better to capture your child’s handwriting. The interview can ask things like favorite color, animal, hobby, etc.

3.New Supplies

Shopping for new school supplies, and letting your child pick some fun thing he or she adores, will make school seem more fun and interesting. Make back to school shopping a family adventure rather than a chore.

4.Favorite Breakfast

Let your kids indulge a little and start school with a full belly. Make all your child’s favorite breakfast foods and have a feast together as a family. Talk about the exciting things the school year can hold.

5.Send A Love Note

Put a note of encouragement in your child’s backpack or lunch that they can read when they get nervous that first day. Having a reminder that you believe in them can be just what they need to get through.

6.Host a Back To School Party

Make it a time of fun by hosting a little back to school party with friends and family. Make education a point of celebration and gratitude.

7.Family Night

Plan a fun family game or movie night the evening of the first day of school. This will help children release the stress of being back at school and give them something to look forward to during the day.
